GrindTec 2020: the future of precision grinding

Showcasing the future of precision grinding with Haas Schleifmaschinen

The biggest event in grinding is back. With more than 600 exhibitors from 30 countries and over 20,000 visitors expected over the four days, the 2020 GrindTec is shaping up to be the best one yet.

GrindTec 2020: the future of precision grinding

This year’s GrindTec theme is Industry 4.0 and Electromobility. With a focus on the Medical and Aerospace industries, as well as a strong i4.0 offering, Haas is ahead of the curve when it comes to competing in a world that is quickly moving away from traditional automotive manufacturing. This will be more apparent than ever at their stand in Hall 2.

Visitors can expect new processes for the production of turbine blades and knee implants. One of the stand’s highlights will be the visualisation software, Multigrind® Styx – a new i4.0 offering from Haas.

Multigrind® Styx software

Multigrind® Styx shows pixels without triangulation and maximum accuracy. Thanks to ray tracing, all grinding processes can be completely visualised in advance.

Multigrind Styx shows the workpiece data down to the smallest detail. Irregularities and transitions, even ripples in the workpiece surface, are displayed and can be corrected before the grinding operation starts, saving both time and materials.

“Thanks to a cloud-based solution, customers now need less computing power for more performance – and that pays off immediately.”
– Marie-Sophie Maier-Wember

New methods for taps and thread formers

Alongside examples from Aerospace & Medical, Haas is showcasing a new manufacturing method for taps and thread formers. Instead of performing multiple operations individually on three or four single-purpose machines and losing precision by re-clamping, taps can now be machined fully automatically on the Multigrind in just one clamping.

Haas machines offer fast set-up and loading, maximum cutting performance in ultra-hard materials and precise dressing. Haas is offering a production solution that maximises precision and flexibility at lower unit costs.

“Fast production preparation, significantly shorter set-up times, no stock-keeping or idle time between operations: Haas grinding machines allow tap manufacturers to completely redesign their process. I am already looking forward to the discussions at the GrindTec.”
– Marie-Sophie Maier-Wember

The technological leaps on display at GrindTec 2020 are made possible by the Multigrind Horizon software on offer from Haas. In combination with Horizon, the Haas Multigrind machines are highly flexible, high-tech tools.
