Reaching New Heights
As a pioneer in milling technology, F Zimmermann GmbH enjoys a high profile in the global CNC machining community, with news of new developments eagerly awaited. This year’s Open House event did not disappoint, with the launch of several new products and the unveiling of the company’s new “Centre of Competence for Technology” at its headquarters in Neuhausen, Germany.
Attending with Kingsbury were 17 of the UK and Ireland’s premier component manufacturers, including three first tier suppliers to the European Airbus programme. One of the highlights of the visit was the unveiling of Zimmermann’s new horizontal machining centre. A first for Zimmermann, the FZH 400 was developed by Christian Podiebrad and Daniel Demlang as a high-performance solution for the production of specialist parts including aluminium airframes and incorporates a unique new automation system.
Also on show to visitors was the new Zimmermann FZU 200 compact portal milling machine. Characterised by a modularised design developed to fit in limited spaces, the FZU offers composite machining for aerospace applications including airframes and automotive manufacturing applications.
Finally, audiences were treated to a first-hand view of the FZ 42 100 Duo twin spindle vertical machining centre, developed to handle large structural elements for aerospace such as wing spars.
This year’s Event was concluded with a magnificent Gala Dinner which welcomed 260 visitors and set the scene for the handover of the business from current President Rudolf Gänzle to his son Frieder.
Watch out for more news of the new Zimmermann products soon!
