3DMP® combines the technically mature, and highly reliable, arc welding method with the CAD data of the metal parts that are being produced.
Gefertec’s bespoke software acts as the interface between the planning data and the arc-welding machine by taking the CAD data and converting it into individual digital printing layers – the CAM model.
The blank part is then printed – fully automatically and in a controlled manner. Finally, the part is 3D scanned for quality control before being milled.
In conventional welding, an electric arc is used to join metals. The WAAM process uses standard welding wire, avoiding the need for special and expensive additive materials.
We make full use of our extensive expertise and the advantages of this mature technology in order to offer the layered printing of several metal layers in a fully automatic, digitally controlled and easy to use manner.
WAAM 3DMP® can replace all conventional manufacturing methods for metal parts, including forming, cutting, joining, coating, milling, turning, etc.
3DMP® WAAM is the most economical additive manufacturing method with production cost savings of up to 60% in comparison to the conventional manufacturing of near-net shape parts for mechanical finishing.
The 3DMP® WAAM process only has 3 steps – resulting in faster turnaround times and lower material costs. This enables machine shops to be more reactive to market demands.
For the first time, WAAM brings metal additive manufacturing within the reach of jobbing machine shops – allowing them to be more competitive.
