Kingsbury opens midlands office and makes two new appointments
Specifically to develop sales in the UK and Ireland of large prismatic machining centres from SHW and F Zimmermann, the sole agent for all three German manufacturers, Kingsbury, has opened an office in Blythe Valley Business Park, Birmingham, close to the junction of the M40 and M42.
It will initially be staffed by two new appointees. Chris Hewitson joins the Board as Business Development Director and Steve Burrows fills another new role, that of Senior Applications Engineer – Large Prismatic Machines. Both have been active in the machine tool industry for all of their working lives.
Mr Hewitson progressed from his apprenticeship with Gibson Engineering in 1973 to become the European sales director of a leading machine tool group, prior to which he was managing director of its UK subsidiary. He brings with him valuable experience at senior management level as well as specific expertise in marketing large-capacity machining centres into the aerospace, power generation, automotive, petrochemical and tool making sectors.
Mr Burrows, since completing a craft apprenticeship as a toolmaker and machinist at gear machinery manufacturer, WE Sykes, has spent the subsequent 30-plus years working with machine tools. Until the late 90s he was in manufacturing, both at subcontractors and at OEMs involved in motorsport, aerospace, defence and high-end electronics. More recently he specialised in prismatic machining equipment sales and applications engineering.
