MSSS – PFCS Machining Solution

In 2016, BEL Engineering entered a discussion on the potential machining of all parts for PFCS nuclear waste bins. Since 2017, they have been machining a combination of both PFCS and MSSS variants to a high degree of precision. However, as the year drew to a close, they realised only a certain amount of improvement could be made using conventional fixturing. In December that year, Kingsbury entered talks with BEL Engineering in a bid to find a solution.

We sought a new process in both work holding and machining for both variants of waste bins. In this video, we reveal how we combined our new patented fixture solution with the Waldrich Coburg Taurus machine. This innovative process has vastly reduced cycle time and costs; creating a long-term solution for BEL Engineering.
